Modern science discovered that the upper crust of the brain produces a chemical substance, which is called'androphine'.They realised that this substance increases in the human blood when people try to be more patient and determinate to acheive a specific task. Scientists maintain that these chemical substances help to increase individual ability to endurance and to stop the feelings of pain while facing obstacles and hardships. They callled these substances the 'opiums of the brain'.

This is the scientific explaination of patience, but what does Qur'an say about it? In general, the value of patience is often linked, in Qur'an, and from life experience, to faith in God. believing people are more likely to be patient than non-believers. However, this is not the issue, but my point is to make a logical approach between the scientific and Qur'anic explaination of patience.

God says in the Holy Qur'an:

"And We made from among them leaders guiding by Our command when they were patient and [when] they were certain of Our signs” [as-Sajdah 32:24]

God talks in this verse about the value of patience and edurance as a motivation for achievement and success, of course by the help of God, the Almighty. In another verse in chapter Al anfal, God confirms the same link between patience and achievement, when He says, while talking to believers in the battle of Badr:

"Now, Allah (God) has lightened [the hardship] for you, and He knows that among you is weakness. So if there are from you one hundred [who are] steadfast, they will overcome two hundred. And if there are among you a thousand, they will overcome two thousand by permission of Allah (God). And Allah (God) is with the steadfast."(66)

God implies here that Man has been created weak. However, patience is a natural defense mechanism against weakness, which means that people who endure obstacles and pains are more likely to overcome their weakness than others. So throughout this process of endurance, the efforts of the body doubles, and, as a result, become more productive. Hence, endurance and patience, are also explained in the light of Qur'an as motivation for more production and even victory, because it is a natural defense mechanism that Man is supposed to devellop within him to overcom pain and obstacles to acheive his end.

At last God says in the Holy Qur'an:

These shall be granted their reward twice, because they are steadfast…”

this means that patience has its reward in both life, and most of all the after-life. It is a value which is tied with victory and acheivement, and this is exactely what the scientific statement maintains.

While surfing throughout the internet, I came across a Nasa article replying to a question about the end of time. Well, I do not speak about the widespread 2012 myth, that has been used by some for sake of accumulating some money. As a Muslim, I believe that only God has the knowledge of the end of time. Padi Boyd, an astronomer of Nasa team, speaks first about the expansion of the universe and says:

We observe all distant galaxies to be receding from us, and from this we conclude that the Universe is expanding uniformly. In fact, the current picture of the evolution of the cosmos is that since the birth of the Universe in the explosive Big Bang, the Universe has continued to expand.

God says in the Holy Qur'an:

"Indeed, We have built the heaven (the universe) with Might, and We are expanding it."

How could the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) know about the expansion of the universe, if it was not a revelation from God, the Al Mighty?

Padi Boyd continues to say:

The expansion will slow down and eventually reverse, so that the Universe will be contracting. Eventually it will end in a collapse (or a bounce) called the Big Crunch.

Scientists also liken the universe to a flat paper book, that might fold at the end of times:

...the geometry of the universe is flat, like a sheet of paper... (see the source)

God says in the Chapter of Al Anbiya:

The Day when We will fold the heaven like the folding of a [written] sheet for the records. As We began the first creation, We will repeat it.[That is] a promise binding upon Us. Indeed, We will do it. (104)

In the previous verse, God speaks about the expansion of heaven, and in this one He speaks about its retraction. Isn't this what astronomers confirm by scientific research? Wasn't the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh)truthful when he talked about this revelation in the Holy Qur'an?

The End of Times is Qur'anic truth confirmed by scientific research.

You came and left in a world where myth prevails over reason

You neither had the wealth of kings, nor claimed to be a lord

but you had the knowledge and wisdom by the will of the Mighty Lord

You preached faith on the basis of wisdom and reason, but never by the sword

Now I understand why your death was the greatest plight of our world.

May the greatest Lord grant you peace and blessings, dear Prophet.

And gathered for Solomon were his soldiers of the jinn and men and birds, and they were [marching] in rows. (17) Until, when they came upon the valley of the ants, an ant said, "O ants, enter your dwellings that you not be crushed by Solomon and his soldiers while they perceive not." (18) So[Solomon] smiled, amused at her speech, and said, "My Lord, enable me to be grateful for Your favor which You have bestowed upon me and upon my parents and to do righteousness of which You approve.

This is part of a scene that happened at the time of Prophet Solomon (may God bless him). The Prophet Solomon has been supported by the miracle of hearing and understanding the language that living creatures like birds or ants produce. An athiest would make fun of it and say that religion has no  sense of wisdom and is completely counter science. This is not true, because science has proved for us the truthfulness of every single word in Qur'an. How could Man from ancient times know that ants could have a language of its own? They simply could not, because techniques of sound technology was not able at that time.

Dr. Robert Hickling has spent long years in observing insects and studying the sound resonance that they produce. There was no way in discovering this untill he was able to record the sounds which ants produce.What was surprising to this scientist is that the sound resonance they generated differ from ant to another, and from male to female. These researches were published in "The Journal of Sound and Vibration" magazine in 2006, and it was the first time Man could, really, hear the sounds which ants produced. This scientist presented a research paper under the name of  "Analysis of Acoustic Communication by Ants" in the "Journal of Accoustical society of America". The result of this research paper shows that ants has a better "hearing" capacity than Manhimself!Scientists think that the ant uses her 'warning horns' (as they call it) so as to produce and to receive sound resonances.

Nowadays, scientists try to hear and understand the sound signals that ants produce. They were able to distinguish four kinds of these sound signals, after an observational experiment which endured long years ago. The result is this:

* Ants produce a specific warning signal in case of risk, which the other ants receive and react to it in due time. Look at the Qur'anic verse. Does it portray accurately this scientific statement. At the sight of Prophet and his army, the ant perceived the danger inherent in their presence. This ant produced sound signals to other members of her community to tell them that their life might be in danger. The only miracle here is not that the ant has a language, for it has been proved by science, but that God has granted his Prophet Solomon the ability to decipher these signals and understand the message.

*Scientists say that ants resemble human beings, because they work in the most perfect manners, and communicate with each other while working.

*When an ant attacks a plant it produces a frightening sound as a way to fight her enemy.

*Ants generate signs of emergency in case of danger.

Modern sound technology have contributed to discover the ants' ability to speech in its own dwellings. It was maintained that ants produce sound signals that were not known before. A research team brought little mircrophones to the ants' dwellings to record the sounds that the queen produces to hold the attention of ants. This team discovered that once the queen speaks, the ants stop all forms of movement, and generate warning horns for long hours to detect any external signal of danger.

God says in the Holy Qur'an. (Chapter Anaam: 38)

"Indeed, whatever creature that creeps on the earth, or a bird which flies with its wings are just nations like you."
